How to deposit at betting sites via mobile money
Mobile money is the fastest, most widely used way to fund a betting account across Africa. Whether you use MTN Mobile Money in Ghana, M-Pesa in Kenya or Airtel Money across the region, the deposit flow is broadly the same. This guide walks through it and covers fees, limits and troubleshooting.
Before you start
You need a registered betting account, a mobile-money wallet with a sufficient balance, and your phone number linked to that wallet. Deposits are normally credited in your local currency (GHS, KES, NGN, etc.) with no currency conversion.
Step-by-step: depositing with mobile money
- Log in to your betting account and open the Deposit page.
- Select mobile money (e.g. MTN MoMo, M-Pesa or Airtel Money) as the method.
- Enter the amount you want to deposit, at or above the site minimum.
- Confirm your wallet number — it should match the phone number on your betting account.
- Approve the prompt: most sites push an on-screen STK/USSD prompt to your phone. Enter your mobile-money PIN to authorise.
- Wait for confirmation: the balance usually reflects within a minute. If it does not, do not retry immediately — check your SMS first.
Paybill / manual deposits (Kenya)
Some Kenyan sites use an M-Pesa Paybill number: go to M-Pesa → Lipa na M-Pesa → Pay Bill, enter the operator’s business number, use your phone number as the account, then enter the amount and PIN.
Fees, limits and timing
- Fees: operators rarely charge for deposits, but your mobile-money provider may apply a small transaction fee.
- Limits: minimums are low (often the equivalent of GHS 1 / KES 50 / NGN 100). Daily wallet limits are set by your provider.
- Timing: deposits are near-instant; withdrawals back to your wallet typically clear within minutes once approved.
If a deposit fails
Check the SMS from your provider to confirm whether money left your wallet. If it was debited but not credited, keep the transaction ID and contact the operator’s support with it. Never deposit from a wallet that is not registered in your own name.
